THINGS TO DO IN DUBLIN
|
|
Guinness Brewery
The Guinness Brewery is the most popular visitor attraction for guests at Dublin hotels. It's an interesting tour, there is a great collection of historical Guiness marketing campaigns and you get to sample the black stuff at the end of the tour. It's worth a visit and has to be done!
Irish Rugby Website
If you are over for one of the Rugby Internationals then this site would probably be of interest to you. The weekends of the Rugby matches tend to be very busy, so make sure that you book your accommodation early as most Dublin hotels will be heavily booked and room prices will be expensive.
Viking Splash Tours
Great for kids & the young at heart. Using a WW2 amphibious landing craft, this is a lively tour of the city after which the vehicle drives into the water for a tour of the Grand Canal Basin & the river Liffey. Everyone wears Viking Helmets, there is lots of shouting & roaring and it's great fun. Tickets at reception from most Dublin hotels.
National Gallery of Ireland
The National Gallery holds a superb collection of European and Irish art. Entrance is free and if you have kids with you, there is a fantastic childrens section where the kids can draw / paint for hours. Located on Merrion Square in the centre of Dublin. Hotel receptionist will be pleased to provide directions.

National Museum
Although the National Museum has three locations in Dublin, the Natural History Museum (known locally as the "Dead Zoo" because of its extensive collection of stuffed animals & skeletons) is a personal favorite . It is located across from the Merrion Hotel, one of the top 5 star hotels in Dublin.
National Library
The National Library of Ireland is free to visit. It is a beautiful historical building with a quaint reading room and exhibition dedicated to some of the more prominent Irish authors. This is the best place to go to check out your family roots (See their Genealogical Service). Located on Kildare Street, convenient to most city centre hotels.
Jameson Distillery
Jameson is one of the most popular Irish whiskeys and the tour of the distillery is a fascinating experience. Finish up with a tasting experience where you learn to appreciate the subtle differences between different Irish whiskeys as well as the market difference between Irish Whiskey and it's inferior Scottish cousin.
Dublin Zoo
Dublin Zoo is one of the most popular visitor attractions in dublin, particularly for families with children. Parking is available nearby in the Phoenix Park but if you are staying at a hotel in Dublin and don't have a car with you, the best thing is to visit it during a "hop on - hop off" tour of Dublin.
