As the reviews here show, the Ashling Hotel has benefitted hugely from the opening of the LUAS tram line in 2004, as well as from its takeover by the Best Western Group. Although well located for Heuston Station (the main train station for the West and South) and the Phoenix Park, the 20-25 minute walk along the quays to O'Connell Street can be too far for some. Today however, its a 5 minute tram ride, with trams passing the door every three minutes.

The friendly atmosphere and staff make the Ashling popular with groups, families and business travellers alike.

"Please note the following comments: The following were very satisfactory~ Cleanliness of room, very comfortable, easy access to Luas and transport, meals very good (especially breakfast), ease of booking, friendliness of breakfast and cleaning staff. However we found reception to be unfriendly and unhelpful when we first arrived , and later when we asked for information and when we had further questions. The exception to this was on the last morning,8th July, when we received a `good morning ` from a young man on duty. I suggest this is an area which you need to improve, because, first impressions are very important which I am sure you are aware of. Your comments would be appreciated. Regards Jean Sillence "

"Nicely situated with pleasant, helpful and efficient staff. Only problem was noise from a wedding disco which went on until 0100hrs on Saturday evening. This prevented us from sleeping and was a problem as we had to be up early to get to the airport.

"A Nice hotel just one mile outside Dublin City Centre and very close to Phoenix Park. The LUAS tram service, which stopped just along the road from the hotel, is first class and a very simple way of getting around making this hotel's location ideal for Dublin.
