The unique character of the Ferryman as a Pub Hotel divides opinion on the reviews we receive. For many, perhaps the young or adventurous traveller seeking something different, it provides a perfect fit, as shown in the positive reviews below. For others, perhaps seeking a more traditional hotel experience, the lack of a lift (it is a listed building), noise from the bar and the dockland setting make it unsuitable. Likewise, the 1.5 km (just over a mile) walk to O'Connell Bridge and Temple Bar is probably more suited to young legs or regular walkers.

Fans of The Ferryman, however, tend to return and return regularly. It is particulalry suited to small groups.

"Rooms vary greatly. We booked two rooms for 4 adults; one room was fine, but the other was on the top floor and had a skylight but no window. We were able to make a change for the second night. Saturday night music which was mentioned on your website has been discontinued, and bar food is not available on weekends. Breakfast was good, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a development area, and heavy equipment noise started before 6 AM on Monday morning. "

"The booking mentioned the noise from the hotel and the building site, but the main problem is the traffic(which I suppose wont be such a big issue if your a city dweller), but the bin men in the middle of the night and the dray men at 6:00(Wednesday) must take some getting used too. "

"We thought that the Hotel served food at night and were looking forward to a good dinner in a Pub but to our dismay they did not. They only serve dinks at night. We wanted to experience pub food with live music, but we did not get that there because they only play music on the weekends. We had to get up earlier to drive to Killarney and the hot water was not turned on. My husband had to wake the owner so that we could get hot water. There are no phones in the room and the showers are extremely small. I had to step in sideways and I am not a large person 5`6 at 140. But overall it was OK but I would not stay there again. "

"Overall stay was good. Car was parked outside hotel in adjacent street, and got damaged overnight which was a bit of a pain. Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. Views overlooking the river were very good. Convenient location to city centre. will probably book again, despite damage to car. "

THE ROOMS ARE SPOT ON THE BREAKFAST IS EXCELLENT THE BAR IS GOOD WITH LIVE IRISH MUSIC ON SAT ALSO VERY WELL PRICED COMPARED TO TEMPLE BAR WHICH IS ABOUT A TEN MIN WALK ALONG THE RIVER .
