Unsuprisingly for a hotel situated over a popular pub, reviews for the Portobello are most positive from those coming to Dublin for the nightlife! The spacious rooms and the large breakfast are especially appreciated, as is the excellent value for money for those on a tight budget. Those not wanting to walk the mile to Temple Bar and O'Connell Street, there is regular public transport (LUAS, bus and taxi) available outside.

"Asked for non-smoking room, but received a room that smelled very strongly of smoke. However, also asked for room with a view - which it did have. The staff were brilliant and it did not spoil our stay. Just that our clothes smelled! It was expensive, but the location was great.

"We were not notified that day light savings time had taken place or was going to take place during our 2 night stay so therefore we missed breakfast in the morning. Guest from other countries should be made aware of this upon check in since they are likely not to know about this twice of year time change"

"Yeah, no problem we really enjoyed our stay in the hotel, the customer care of the staff was excellent, no problems wot so ever. Have already recommended the hotel to friends and family who will be visiting soon!!! Minor criticism though , I thought there could of been blinds on the windows, as our room was facing the college, and people on buses could look right into the window in the day, as well as people passing!!
